Franciscan Health Cancer Center Indianapolis recently received a generous donation of 100 blankets from Dreyer & Reinbold Subaru and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).

Patients at the Franciscan Health Cancer Center will receive the blankets, which they can use during treatments and also take home with them.

“We are grateful for the continued support of Subaru and Dreyer & Reinbold through this generous program,” said Joan Himebrook, accreditation and community outreach coordinator for the Franciscan Health Cancer Center. “The blankets and art kits bring comfort to our patients during their treatment and beyond.”

The Dreyer & Reinbold team, based in Greenwood, Ind., also brought 50 art activity kits for the children whose parents are undergoing bone marrow and stem cell transplants.

“It means a lot to us to be able to donate the blankets and art kits,” said Andy Thimlar, sales manager, Dreyer & Reinbold Subaru. “Subaru does a lot for the community. To be able to see the warmth and care it brings to the patients is priceless. We have been doing this for a few years now and look forward to continuing in the future.”

The donations are part of the “Loves to Care” program, a health-focused initiative of Subaru’s national philanthropic platform.

The blankets will be presented to patients undergoing treatment at the Franciscan Health Indiana Blood & Marrow Transplantation (IBMT) unit. The program is one of only two facilities – and the first – in Indiana offering full-service transplant care, including bone marrow and stem cell transplants. The unit specializes in treating leukemia, Hodgkin or non-Hodgkin lymphoma, multiple myeloma and other blood disorders.

Franciscan Health Cancer Center Indianapolis is located at 8111 South Emerson Avenue, Suite 101 in Indianapolis.
