By Franciscan Health | | 8.5.24

Franciscan Health will be hosting a free virtual heart health webinar on Tuesday, August 13, led by Dr. Ankur Kalra, cardiologist. The webinar will focus on how culture can impact risk of heart disease.

No matter one’s ancestry or heritage, they could be at risk for heart disease. For instance, higher rates of premature atherosclerosis are being found among those of South Asian background as well as other ethnicities. Dr. Kalra will talk about these findings and what that means for heart health.

According to the Center for Disease Control, heart disease is the leading cause of death for men, women, and people of most racial and ethnic groups. One person dies every 33 seconds from cardiovascular disease.

Dr. Kalra will share tips for good heart health among all people.

Register online for the virtual heart health webinar on Tuesday, August 13. The event begins at 6 p.m. Central/7 p.m. Eastern.
