Franklin College Announces 2024 Homecoming Events

Franklin College’s annual Homecoming festivities will take place Tuesday, Sept. 24 through Sunday, Sept. 29. Registration, when required, is available online at alumni.FranklinCollege.edu/page/homecoming or by calling (317) 738-8040.

The highlights of Homecoming festivities include:

Virtual 5K, Tuesday, Sept. 24 - Sunday, Sept. 29
No matter where you reside, you can join Grizzlies and friends in spirit as you complete a 5K run or walk on your own. Or, gather local alumni to participate with you. Post your photo during Homecoming week on the Franklin College Alumni Association Facebook page for a chance to win free swag! The event is free.

Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet, Thursday, Sept. 26 at 6:30 p.m.
Alumni and friends are invited to join in the celebration of a long tradition of athletic excellence. Alumni Andy Clark ’08, Athlete; Capt. Heather Waterman Huneycutt ’11 (posthumously), Athlete; and Kerry N. Prather, Coach, will be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame as 2024 inductees, and Joel Taylor ’92 will be inducted as a 2023 athlete inductee. The banquet will be held in the Branigin Room of the Napolitan Student Center. Cost is $20 per person. Space is limited. Registration is required.

Roy E. Tillotson Alumni Golf Tournament, Friday, Sept 27 at 11 a.m.
The Roy E. Tillotson Alumni Golf Tournament will be held at Hillview Country Club in Franklin. Registration begins at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start at noon. The registration fee of $100 per player includes green fees, cart, snacks, drinks, appetizers and prizes. Registration is required.

“Spirt of Community” Mural Ribbon Cutting, Friday, Sept. 27 at 1 p.m.
President Kerry N. Prather invites you to join him in the Johnson Atrium of the Napolitan Student Center for the unveiling of the “Spirt of Community” mural, a collaborative art project led by Clowes Visiting Artist in Residence Tiffany Black Behzad, now a faculty member at the college. The mural, created with the help of Franklin College students and community members, celebrates the rich history and vibrant future of Franklin College. A reception will follow on the second-floor balcony of the Napolitan Student Center. Registration appreciated.

Hail to Franklin Alumni Awards Presentation and Reception, Friday, Sept. 27 at 6 p.m.
Join President Kerry N. Prather as he presents the 2024 Alumni Awards at Garment Factory Events in Franklin. Since 1954, the Alumni Council of Franklin College has had an established awards program designed to honor alumni and friends of the college, recognizing outstanding professional/community achievement as well as service to the college. Those to be honored include Jared Applegate ’09, Young Alumni Award; Gordon Cox ’82, Hail to Franklin Award; and C. Don Miles ’63, Ph.D., Distinguished Alumni Award. In addition, Scott Gudeman, M.D., will be honored with an Associate Alumni Award. Registration is required. Free to attend.

All Alumni/Class Reunion Gathering, Friday, Sept. 27 from 7-10 p.m.
Join alumni of all ages at Garment Factory Events in Franklin for a fun yet informal gathering. Appetizers will be provided by the Franklin College Alumni Council. A limited menu and cash bar will also be available. Registration requested. Free to attend.

Traditional Burning of the Privy, Friday, Sept. 27 at 8:45 p.m.
Join faculty, staff, students and fellow alumni for the annual privy burning at the corner of Monroe and Forsythe streets and discover the history behind this traditional Homecoming event.

Book Signing by David Carlson, Ph.D., Saturday, Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Carlson is a professor emeritus of philosophy and religion at Franklin College and the author of several books, including the award-winning Christopher Worthy and Father Fortis mystery series. Please join him outside the college bookstore in the lower level of the Napolitan Student Center where he will sell and sign copies of his books, including the latest in the mystery series, Suffer the Children.

1974 GRIZ Gold Tailgate, Saturday, Sept. 28 from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Honoring the 50th reunion class of 1974, this reunion event is open to all alumni graduating in or prior to 1974. The tailgate luncheon will be held in the Elba L. & Gene Portteus Branigin Atrium of the Johnson Center for Fine Arts. Cost is $15 per person and registration is required. Members of the class of 1974 will receive two complimentary tickets when registering.

All Alumni Photo, Saturday, Sept. 28 at 1 p.m.
All Franklin College alumni are encouraged to gather outside of the Faught Stadium main gate to participate in the group photo.

Grizzly Football vs. Ohio Wesleyan, Saturday, Sept. 28 at 1:30 p.m.
The Homecoming football game will be played at Stewart “Red” Faught Stadium where the Grizzlies will take on the Battling Bishops. Crowning of the Homecoming royalty will be held at halftime. General admission to the game through Eventlink is $10 ($8 for ages 65 and older). Admission is free for anyone age 12 or younger and individuals with a valid FC ID.
