Franklin College recently received an Advancing Racial Equity Collection Development grant from Indiana Humanities thanks to co-collaborators Jessica Mahoney, MLS, director of the college’s library services and assessment, and Marlisha Marcellin, Ph.D., director of the Center for Diversity and Inclusion (CDI) at Franklin College.

The grant enables the college to enhance its library collection with new acquisitions focused on diversity, equity and inclusion topics. The materials are curated to support DEI-related student development programs and aid faculty in integrating DEI themes into their courses.

“The Advancing Racial Equity Collection highlights diverse perspectives and multiple points of view,” said Mahoney. “Topics such as race, injustice and the Black experience comprise the collection in an effort to encourage conversations of mutual respect.”

The collection is available on the library’s first floor and includes 72 different print, eBooks, audiobooks, DVDs and film streaming formats.

The collection is available to the public for online browsing at bit.ly/AdvancingRacialEquityCollection. To borrow from the collection, schedule an appointment with Jessica Mahoney at (317) 738-8165.
