Franklin College to Host Lecture by Artificial Intelligence Executive

Franklin College welcomes Jane Nemcova, chief revenue officer at Ollang, on Tuesday, March 24 at 7 p.m. in the Branigin Room of the Napolitan Student Center. Nemcova is the final speaker in the College's 2025–2026 Convocation Lecture Series and will present “When Machines Think, What Must Humans Become?”
Having worked at the forefront of artificial intelligence (AI) and global language technology, Nemcova has witnessed firsthand how rapidly machines are transforming the way we create, decide and communicate across industries and institutions. In her lecture, she will reflect on why the liberal arts — philosophy, history, literature, ethics, political thought, theology, mathematics and the sciences — remain essential for cultivating critical thinking, moral judgment and civic responsibility. In an age of intelligent machines, she contends, the decisive question is not what technology can accomplish, but whether we will cultivate the wisdom to guide it.
Based in San Francisco, Ollang is an AI-first platform powering multilingual execution at enterprise scale. As its chief revenue officer, Nemcova leads global go-to-market strategy for the company. A veteran AI and localization executive, she has built and led large-scale AI data and language initiatives for Google, Apple, Meta, Microsoft and Amazon. She also founded and scaled Lionbridge AI and played a key leadership role at Moravia prior to its acquisition by RWS. In addition, she serves as an adjunct professor at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, where she launched one of the first graduate programs focused on AI and language technologies.
Franklin College tradition includes hosting an annual Convocation Lecture Series that promotes the ideals of the institution. The college upholds a common set of values that enhances the community and sustains personal, spiritual and professional growth for a lifetime. The college values people of integrity, a commitment to inclusivity, a culture of intellectual curiosity, the drive for innovation and creativity and the spirit of community.
