Meet Your Ambassador: Sherry Sullivan, First Community Mortgage
Sherry Sullivan with First Community Mortgage has been an ambassador for 2 years. Here are some things to know about Sherry:
- As an ambassador of 2 years, how has it been beneficial to you and your business?
Being an ambassador for Aspire has significantly increased my visibility, allowed me to network with other industry leaders, and has provided opportunities that have helped my business grow. I have gained referral partnerships and formed many genuine friendships. - What excites you about being an ambassador?
I am very excited to be an ambassador because it allows me the opportunity to represent an organization I genuinely believe in, while connecting with a community of like-minded individuals. It is thrilling to contribute to Aspires growth and their goals to drive economic development and business success. - Can you remember a favorite moment during your time as an ambassador that sticks with you?
One of my favorite moments of being an ambassador was when I attended my first Coffee Connections event. I was extremely nervous, but from the minute I walked in, I felt very welcome. I met nice new business professionals (many who I am still friends with) and it has been exciting to see this group grow tremendously over the last two years. - What advice do you have for professionals trying to connect with other professionals?
My advice for professionals trying to connect with other professionals is to be intentional and authentic in your approach. Focus on building genuine relationships rather than just expanding your network. Attend industry events, engage in meaningful conversations, and provide support. - Do you have any good networking tricks or habits that have worked for you when you are networking?
Effective networking tricks and habits that have worked for me are: Prepare an elevator pitch – have a concise, compelling summary of who you are and what you do. This helps make a strong first impression. Ask open-ended questions to encourage conversation and be an active listener; focus on understanding what the other person is saying. Follow-up after meeting someone new by sending a personalized e-mail. Leverage social media, always carry business cards, attend community events and most importantly, be genuine. - What is your favorite color?
My favorite color is pink. - Tell us something you love to do as a hobby or a favorite vacation spot.
I love all sports and enjoy fitness. Pickleball has become my favorite hobby because it’s a fun and engaging way to stay active while enjoying friendly competition with others. - What is your favorite thing about Aspire?
My favorite thing about Aspire Johnson County is the collaborative spirit that drives meaningful connections, and the great people involved. The Aspire staff are always caring for their members and striving to impact business success. I am thankful to be part of such an amazing organization.
Thank you so much, Sherry Sullivan, for caring for your fellow members and their development with Aspire.
