Recycling District Announces Saturday Document Shredding/ Latex Paint Recycling and Household Chemical Disposal November 16

The Johnson County Recycling District in partnership with American Paint Recyclers and Shares, Inc. is hosting a document shredding and latex paint/stain recycling event on Saturday, November 16th, from 9:00 a.m. to noon. The event will be held at the Recycling Center, 900 Arvin Rd., Suite A, in Franklin. This event is free and open to all Johnson County residents.

ONLY latex paints and stains in usable condition will be accepted at this location. We will not be able to accept oil-based paint, dried paint, or empty paint cans. Documents for shredding will be collected in locked containers and shredded off-site at Shares, Inc. in Shelbyville, IN. If you are bringing large quantities of paper to be shredded, the paper should be in a container that can be left behind (boxes are preferred). Please note that NO electronics or general recycling will be accepted.

Additionally, the Johnson County Tox Box will be open for residential use by appointment only, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. To set up your appointment time, visit JCRD.Org/events. The Tox Box is located at 1051 Hospital Road, Franklin.

The following items are accepted free of charge at the Tox Box:

- Household cleaning supplies

- Yard and pool chemicals

- Automotive fluids

- Poisons

- Aerosol cans

- Adhesives

- Oil-based paint and stain


This service is open to Johnson County residents only; no businesses, contractors, or small-quantity generators will be accepted.
