Tara CEO Announces Retirement

FRANKLIN, IN – Long-time CEO Theresa Matthews has announced her retirement from Tara Treatment Center, an alcohol and addiction treatment center.

The eldest daughter of Tara’s founder, Ann Daugherty, Matthews became CEO in 2006 following the passing of her mother. She spent her entire career at Tara and held many positions. A registered nurse, Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor and Advanced Certified Relapse Prevention Specialist, she was instrumental in the development of many levels of care at Tara which was founded in 1985.

“I have spent my entire career here and have been so blessed to have served people seeking lifelong recovery. I have so many memories and will miss the people. I know we will continue our mission and ministry with determination and dedication,” said Matthews.

Matthews has been active in the community for many years and has been honored for her work. A 1998 graduate of Leadership Johnson County, she was chosen as an Honoree for the 2006 Speaking of Women’s Health for enhancing the quality of life in the community through their efforts in the field of women’s health.

Tara’s Board of Directors also announced that Jessica Daugherty has been appointed Matthew’s successor as CEO. She began her career at Tara in 2002 and has held multiple positions within the organization throughout her tenure, most recently serving as facility administrator.

Daugherty has been responsible for developing and overseeing compliance with fiscal policies that ensure the financial integrity and viability of the organization, developing and implementing the annual operating budget and overseeing compliance with licensing and accreditation guidelines.

Tara has a remarkable legacy centered on compassion and dedication, and I look forward to building on this strong foundation alongside our talented team. We will remain steadfast in our commitment to improving the well-being of the communities we serve by helping individuals on their journey of recovery and healing,” Daugherty said.
