Who Is One Mission Society?
One Mission Society (OMS) exists to see the world transformed through authentic, Christ-centered communities.
OMS, an evangelical, interdenominational faith mission (with roots in the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition) partners with hundreds of churches and ministries around the world to help fulfill the Great Commission by sending missionaries from anywhere to everywhere.
OMS engages the one to reach the many by multiplying:
- Disciples
- Churches
- Leaders
- Missionaries
OMS serves and partners in 78 nations throughout these regions:
- Africa
- Asia/Pacific
- Europe/Middle East
- Latin America/Caribbean
OMS’ story began in 1901 when two telegraph operators, Charles (and Lettie) Cowman and Ernest (and Julia) Kilbourne, moved from Chicago, Illinois, to Tokyo, Japan, to work alongside Japanese evangelist Juji (and Katsuko) Nakada. Their vision was to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with every person in Japan. They formed The Oriental Missionary Society, now called One Mission Society. OMS was founded and continues to minister on the principle that the most effective way to spread the Gospel is by training a nation’s sons and daughters to multiply believers and churches to reach their own people for Christ and then partner with them to reach the rest of the world.
We believe the power of the Gospel, in the hands of disciple-makers, will transform all nations.
